445M2 - The New Marine Grade Stainless Steel
Unlike grade 316, grade 445M2 has a ferritic microstructure and a full 22% of the corrosion resisting element, chromium.
That gives 445M2 some big technical benefits over grade 316. Ferritic grade 445M2 has excellent punchability, bendability and weldability, making it easier to fabricate than the austenitic grade 316.
A much lower rate of work hardening gives lower forming loads and less springback. 445M2 behaves like carbon steel - cleaner cuts, less distortion, longer tool life and cost savings. 445M2 is a marine grade stainless steel with the corrosion resistance of 316 or better - it resists sea salt for safe performance over a long life. All this with a significant cost advantage over 316.

AWM 404GP® - The Premium General Purpose Stainless Steel without the premium price tag
AWM 404GP® is a general purpose stainless steel with corrosion resistance at least as good as 304, often better. AWM 404GP® is not affected by stress corrosion cracking in hot water or subject to sensitisation after welding. AWM 404GP® is easier to cut, fold, bend and weld than 304. A much lower rate of work hardening lowers forming loads and reduces springback. This ease of fabrication provides a better-looking job, cleaner edges, smoother bends, flatter panels, less tool maintenance and extended tool life. AWM 404GP® is available from stock as sheet and coil.
